Spironolactone, Brand Name:  Aldactone (Oral)

Originally developed as a diuretic and antihypertensive medication, Spironolactone has been widely used to treat conditions like heart failure, hypertension, and fluid retention (edema) associated with liver or kidney disease. Its anti-androgenic properties have made it effective in treating hormonal conditions like acne, hirsutism (excessive hair growth), and female pattern hair loss (FPHL). In FPHL, it’s thought to help by blocking the effects of androgens in the scalp, which can reduce hair thinning and support regrowth, though it is not suitable for men due to potential feminizing effects.

Used for: Female Pattern Baldness
