Our Mission

The mission of the American Hair Loss Association is to protect, educate and empower people affected by hair loss by providing independent, credible information and helping them make informed decisions in a field too often shaped by misinformation, unrealistic promises and commercial interests. We work to advance public and medical understanding of hair loss as a legitimate medical condition with profound emotional and social consequences, support meaningful research into better treatments and encourage higher standards of care, ethics, transparency and accountability.

Above all, our mission is to give people a trusted place to turn for truth, perspective and support when they are most vulnerable, while helping the medical community, media and society better understand the real impact of hair loss.

Our Values

Truth and Independence

People facing hair loss deserve accurate information, not hype. The AHLA is committed to separating credible evidence from misinformation, exaggerated claims and commercial marketing. We provide independent, evidence based information and analysis of treatments, products, services and emerging technologies, helping consumers understand what is supported by credible evidence, what remains unproven and what deserves greater scrutiny.

Consumer First Advocacy

The interests of people affected by hair loss come first. The AHLA recognizes how vulnerable consumers and patients can be when searching for answers and how easily that vulnerability can be exploited. We work to protect and empower them through credible information, informed guidance and greater transparency, while holding treatments, products, providers and industry claims to a higher standard of evidence, ethics and accountability.

Science and Collaboration

Meaningful progress in hair loss depends on credible science, rigorous evaluation and responsible collaboration. The AHLA supports research that advances understanding, diagnosis, prevention and treatment, and works with respected physicians, researchers and healthcare professionals committed to evidence and ethical care. New treatments, technologies and claims should be judged by the quality of the evidence behind them, not by marketing, popularity or commercial pressure.

These values guide how the American Hair Loss Association evaluates evidence, informs and protects consumers, and works with the medical and research communities to advance higher standards of information, treatment and care in the field of hair loss.
