AHLA Membership
The American Hair Loss Association (AHLA) is an independent consumer advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by hair loss. Since 2001, the AHLA has worked to advance public education, promote ethical treatment practices and help consumers navigate an industry in which misleading claims and unproven treatments remain widespread.
Unlike traditional professional trade associations, the AHLA does not exist to represent the commercial interests of everyone working within the hair loss industry. Professional membership is selective and reflects the organization’s commitment to consumer protection, credible information and responsible medical and professional practices.
The AHLA welcomes interest from qualified professionals who share these principles. However, membership is not automatically granted on the basis of professional credentials, industry participation or payment of membership dues.
Advancing Hair Loss Education, Professional Integrity and Consumer Protection
The American Hair Loss Association believes that meaningful progress in the prevention and treatment of hair loss requires more than technological advances and new treatment options. It requires medical professionals and industry participants who understand the profound emotional and psychological effects of hair loss and who place the interests of patients and consumers first.
AHLA professional membership reflects a commitment to these principles and to the organization’s broader educational and consumer advocacy mission. Through responsible professional participation, the AHLA seeks to encourage greater awareness, accountability and ethical standards throughout the field.
Membership should not be confused with an unrestricted professional designation or automatic endorsement of an individual’s clinical abilities, products or services. Any authorization to display an AHLA membership designation or organizational seal is subject to the association’s approval and applicable standards.

Who is eligible?
Professional membership in the American Hair Loss Association is reserved for select physicians, qualified medical practitioners and other professionals whose work aligns with the organization’s commitment to consumer education, ethical conduct and responsible treatment practices.
The AHLA is not a trade association offering automatic membership to individuals or businesses operating within the hair loss industry. All membership decisions are made at the organization’s discretion, with consideration given to professional qualifications, ethical practices and alignment with the AHLA’s consumer advocacy mission.
Membership for physicians performing surgical hair restoration is limited to surgeons who have been accepted into the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons (IAHRS). The IAHRS maintains a selective membership process focused on surgical competence, patient outcomes, ethical practices and responsible long-term treatment planning. The organization is recognized by the AHLA as an important resource for consumers considering surgical hair restoration.
Membership Application Notice
Due to the substantial volume of professional membership applications and the AHLA’s selective review process, the organization has temporarily placed the review and acceptance of new membership applications on hold. Interested professionals may continue to submit their information for future consideration. Applications will be retained for review when the process resumes.
