Credible books written specifically for people dealing with hair loss are surprisingly limited. Much of what has been published for consumers is outdated, commercially driven or fails to reflect the complexity of diagnosis, medical treatment and hair restoration.
The American Hair Loss Association maintains a deliberately selective list of consumer books, clinical references and professional publications that offer useful information, historical perspective or a deeper understanding of hair loss and its treatment. Inclusion does not mean that every opinion or recommendation within a publication represents the position of the AHLA.
Consumer Hair Loss Books
The first two titles were written by AHLA founder Spencer Kobren. Although published more than two decades ago, much of their discussion of treatment, surgical decision making, consumer protection and the realities of the hair loss industry remains relevant today.
