The word alopecia just means "hair loss" it does not refer to a specific hair
loss disease. Any form of hair loss is an alopecia. The most common alopecia is
androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness), but it is not the only
hair loss diagnosis. There are many potential causes of hair loss.
